MRI Safety Fundamentals

Standard Individual Price:

£199 per learner

Course Card Summary

Understand the principal MRI hazards and build a consistent, patient-centred approach to screening, access control and emergency response.

Course Overview

MRI Safety Fundamentals introduces the core hazards created by the static magnetic field, time-varying gradients and radiofrequency energy. It places these principles within a practical clinical framework covering controlled access, screening, communication, equipment and emergency preparedness.

The course supports safer decision-making by helping learners recognise risk, work within defined roles and local policy, and escalate uncertainty appropriately.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the principal static-field, gradient, radiofrequency and acoustic hazards in MRI.
  • Explain controlled access, screening and the responsibilities of staff working in the MR environment.
  • Recognise common projectile, burn, device, hearing and patient-management risks.
  • Apply a structured approach to pre-scan checks, communication and documentation.
  • • Outline immediate priorities during MRI emergencies and identify when specialist advice is required.

Who Should Attend?

MRI radiographers, radiographers new to MRI, assistant practitioners, healthcare assistants, referrers and other professionals who enter or support the MR environment.
