MRI Physics Basics

Standard Individual Price:

£149 per learner

Course Card Summary

Make MRI physics understandable by connecting magnetism, resonance, gradients, radiofrequency pulses and k-space directly to the images you acquire.

Course Overview

MRI Physics Basics provides an accessible introduction to the physical principles behind MRI. Complex concepts are broken into clinically meaningful steps, from alignment and precession to excitation, relaxation, spatial encoding and image formation.

The focus is not mathematical memorisation. Learners build a mental model that helps them understand common sequences, image contrast, artefacts and safe scanner operation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe magnetisation, precession, resonance, excitation and relaxation in clear clinical terms.
  • Explain how gradients provide slice selection, phase encoding and frequency encoding.
  • Outline the role of k-space in image formation.
  • Relate TR, TE, flip angle and basic sequence structure to image contrast.
  • Connect core MRI physics with common artefacts, image quality and safety considerations.

Who Should Attend?

Student radiographers, radiographers new to MRI, experienced practitioners seeking a refresher and other imaging professionals who want a clear conceptual foundation.

Course Delivery

Live online teaching and/or supported self-paced learning using diagrams, scanner examples, short knowledge checks and downloadable revision resources.

Certificate

Participants receive an Imaging360 Academy Certificate of Participation..
