Course Card Summary

Build confidence in cardiac MRI planning, ECG gating, core sequences, image quality and the practical management of a complex examination.

Course Overview

Cardiac MRI introduces the workflow and technical foundations required for consistent cardiovascular imaging. The course links patient preparation and safety with cardiac anatomy, standard imaging planes, ECG gating, breath-holding, sequence selection and quality assessment.

Learners explore common approaches to morphology, ventricular function, tissue characterisation, flow and perfusion, with emphasis on acquisition quality, artefact recognition and appropriate escalation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe a safe and efficient patient preparation pathway for cardiac MRI.
  • Plan standard cardiac imaging planes from appropriate localisers.
  • Explain ECG gating, temporal resolution and the impact of rhythm and breathing.
  • Outline the purpose of commonly used cine, tissue-characterisation, flow and perfusion techniques.
  • Recognise common cardiac MRI artefacts and apply practical troubleshooting strategies.

Who Should Attend?

MRI radiographers beginning or consolidating cardiac MRI practice, experienced radiographers seeking a structured refresher and teams developing cardiovascular MRI capability.

Course Delivery

Live online or bespoke group teaching with planning demonstrations, sequence examples, image critique, case discussion and downloadable resources.
